The historical drama “Amrum“Portries life on the North Sea island of the same name in the last days of the Second World War. We experience the whole thing through the eyes of a twelve -year -old boy who has so far known no other Germany than that under the Nazi rule.
This is now obviously at the end – just like the war, which was always omnipresent in the area of the 26 kilometer from the mainland. But how can and should it go on? With Germany? With Amrum? With the little naning and his family?
The work of the Hamburg director Fatih Akin (“Against the wall”, “The Golden Gloves”) celebrated its world premiere on May 15, 2025 in the program of Cannes Film Festival. “Amrum” starts on October 9, 2025 nationwide in German cinemas.
The young newcomer await us in the leading roles Jasper Billerbeck,, Laura Tonke (“Feasts & Friends”) and “Inglourious Basterds” star Diane Krugerwith which Akin already successfully worked on “out of nowhere”. Nanning (Jasper Billerbeck) was born on Amrum and knows nothing else.
