The film opens in German cinemas on March 20, 2025. The trailer that has just been released, is full of ideas and therefore looks quite spectacular and surprising, already gives an insight into the drama with a mystery touch.
That’s what “The Light” is about
At the center of the film is the Engels family: father Tim (Lars Eidinger), his wife Milena (Nicolette Krebitz), the almost adult twins Frieda (Elke Biesendorfer) and Jon (Julius Gause) and Milena’s illegitimate son Dio (Elyas Eldridge). As daughter Frieda aptly puts it in the trailer, it is a “typical German dysfunctional family, where everyone cooks their own soup and doesn’t give a shit about anyone else.” The Engels live more next to each other than with each other – a fragile constellation that exists between New beginnings and collapse balanced.
As the housekeeper Farrah (Tala Al Deen) comes into their lives, the world of the Engels is put to a tough test. Farrah, a woman from Syria with a mysterious past, brings to the surface feelings and conflicts that have long been hidden. She is pursuing her own plan that could fundamentally change the Engels’ lives. As suggested in the trailer, Farrah needs the family for a personal favor, although this also appears to have a mystery component.
By the way: A German film that will also be in cinemas next year is Michael Bully Herbig’s “The Manitu’s canoe“. The first pictures have now been published. In the following article you can see how Abahachi, Ranger, Dimitri and Co. in the sequel to “The Shoe of Manitu” look.
