He has made a special mark at the national and international level with his wisdom and leadership ability. 35-year-old Jai Shah was recently elected Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), and he is the youngest person to reach this position. Jai Shah’s journey in cricket management started in 2009, when he started working at the district level with the Central Cricket Board Ahmedabad (CBCA). After this, he joined the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) and became its joint secretary in 2013. Jai Shah impressed everyone with his efficiency and hard work while serving as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). His good relations with the players and his management skills have brought him to this position.

Jai Shah overcame many challenges

Under the leadership of Jai Shah, BCCI has taken many important decisions. He started the Women’s Premier League (WPL) for the development of women’s cricket, which was very successful. This league gives the highest amount of contracts in women’s T20 cricket, which has given a big boost to women’s cricket. Apart from this, Shah encouraged the players by implementing equal match fees for the Indian women’s cricket team. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when sports activities had come to a halt all over the world, Shah ensured the successful conduct of IPL and other tournaments with his wisdom. He managed the creation of bio-bubble and medical facilities within it, so that the tournament could be held in a safe manner.

New NCA given to Indian cricket

Shah encouraged players to give priority to domestic cricket and took important steps to promote Test cricket. During his tenure, India played a 10-Test season, with players being given more incentives. Another major achievement of Jai Shah is the new construction of the National Cricket Academy (NCA). This academy will serve as a center of excellence, where several first-class matches can be organized at a single venue during the domestic season. Jai Shah’s contribution to Indian cricket is extremely important. He has taken Indian cricket to new heights with his leadership skills, good relations with the players, and wise decisions. These successes of his establish him as an effective and successful administrator.

Played an important role in T20 World Cup victory

After India’s T20 World Cup win in the West Indies this year, Rohit called Shah one of the ‘three pillars’ due to which this victory was possible. In fact, when the whole world was in favor of the fact that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should be dropped from the Indian T20 team and BCCI should give opportunities to new people. During that time, Jay Shah was in favor of Rohit Sharma being the captain of the T20 team and India will play the T20 World Cup 2024 under his captaincy. Rohit Sharma also stood by his words and won the T20 World Cup title for India after 17 years.
