Departed – under enemies was a triumph for everyone involved. Main actor Leonardo DiCapriocould strengthen his status as one of the best actors in Hollywood while director Martin Scorsese finally the long overdue Oscar received as the best director. And then there would be Mark Wahlberg.
The often smiled -at star showed his best side in Departed and even received one for that Oscar nomination as the best supporting actor. No wonder that he wanted to connect this success as soon as possible. His pitch for the Rumort continued for years, Departed 2, went completely wrong.
Departed 2: Mark Wahlberg and William Monahan have completely messed up the pitch
Like Wahlberg in an interview at the beginning of the year KFC radio revealed, he joined in 2007 with Departed author William Monahan Together to Continued at Warner Bros. zu Pitchen. After the Oscar triumph, the two good things were that the studio would give the project green light. But that was exactly the problem.

Wahlberg and Monahan even had not prepared a real pitch. They simply went with the idea of another Departed film. However, a treatment for part 2 did not exist, not to mention a formulated script that the decision -makers of the studio was convincing.
Wahlberg remembers the unpleasant situation as follows:
William Monahan thought that the studio would react as well as everyone else and that (the script) would simply have it written. But (those responsible at Warner Bros.) prefer it when things are well thought out and planned. The pitch did not go very well.
Although a fleeting “Departed 2” Every now and then appears in the headlines, seems after the failed pitch never got wind back into the matter to be. Too bad, because Wahlberg shows that he could have imagined names like Brad Pitt and Robert de Niro in the sequel. It almost sounds like Martin Scorseses of the Godfather 2 could have been created here.
